PALEMBANG - Two suspects in the alleged case of making certificates of ownership of fake land in Banyuasin Regency have been charged with multi-layered articles by South Sumatra Police investigators.

Director of the Ditreskrimum Polda Sumsel Kombes M Anwar Reksowidjojo said the two suspects were EK (53) residents of Rimba Jaya, Air Kumbang, Banyuasin and YS (34) residents of Siring Agung, Ilir Barat I, Palembang.

"The suspect violated Article 263 of the Criminal Code and 266 of the Criminal Code regarding letter falsification and 378 of the Criminal Code regarding fraud," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 2.

The suspects who were arrested in their respective hiding places on Friday (29/7) night, were charged with multiple articles based on the results of the investigation, examination of five witnesses and the completeness of evidence obtained by investigators.

The police named the suspect Yudi as the editor of the SHM document for the PTSL program (free land certification program from the government) as well as claiming to be an employee of the Banyuasin land office (BPN).

Suspect Yudi set a price to the victims for one SHM worth IDR 4.5 million with the promise of the SHM document being completed quickly.

Furthermore, he said, the suspect Efendi, who is a former village head of the local area, participated in convincing his residents of making land ownership certificates.

“From there, 25 fake certificates were issued by the suspect. For this action, the suspect received a total of Rp. 126 million, with the distribution of EKi of Rp. 58.2 million and Rp. 68.3 million for suspect YS," he said, accompanied by the Head of Sub-Directorate III of Crime and Violence at the South Sumatra Police Ditreskrimum Kompol Agus Prihadinika.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Land Mafia Timsus Kompol Haris Dinzah said the case was revealed after a victim became suspicious by checking the truth of the SHM at the Banyuasin BPN Office because the year on the certificate was supposed to be 2022 but it said 2020. This is a product of the Banyuasin BPN Office, aka fake," he said. The dozens of residents who had been deceived then coordinated with the Banyuasin BPN and then made an official report to the South Sumatra Police.

From the hands of the suspects, the police confiscated several pieces of evidence including 25 pieces of SHM ownership of fake land, 16 bundles of SPH (letters of recognition of rights), two Lenovo brand laptops, flash disks containing fake SHM and SPH documents and a number of printing equipment.

"Investigators are still fulfilling the completeness of the files for the suspects to be immediately transferred to the public prosecutor," he said.
