Deputy Speaker Of The DPR Asks Rizieq Shihab To Adhere To Health Protocols

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, asked the Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab to comply with the health protocol for preventing COVID-19.

This was conveyed by Dasco when responding to the shifting of responsibilities between the central and regional governments regarding the obligation to self-quarantine for Rizieq and his entourage after arriving from Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, November 10.

According to him, it is no longer necessary to pass this responsibility to one another because Rizieq is already at his house. Even so, said Dasco, Rizieq must comply with health protocols to prevent the spread of the virus.

"It's already like this. Yes, maybe the person concerned is looking after health issues, COVID protocol issues, etc., as well as the surrounding environment," Dasco told reporters, Friday, November 13.

Furthermore, Dasco also asked that instead of fussing over responsibility, it is better if the authorized health authorities carry out their duties, including monitoring.

"Then, it is normal if there is a return from outside, maybe the health authorities can carry out monitoring," he said.

"If you talk about policy issues, you don't need to, the person (Rizieq Shihab, red) is already at home," added the Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party.

After arriving in Indonesia, Rizieq Shihab did not carry out self-quarantine for 14. This obligation even though it must be done for anyone who has just arrived from abroad.

In addition, he has also held meetings with a number of political figures at his residence in the Petamburan area, Central Jakarta.

Not only did he get the spotlight for not carrying out self-quarantine, this FPI leader and his supporters were often highlighted for not implementing the COVID-19 health protocol.

Most recently, the spotlight came after Rizieq attended the Maulid Nabi event at the Al Afaf Taklim Council held by Al Habib Ali bin Abdurrahman Assegaf in the Tebet area, South Jakarta.

This event took place around 05.00 WIB and was broadcast on Youtube Front TV. At this event, many of the congregation who attended did not wear masks and did not keep their distance. Rizieq, who originally wore a mask, took off his mask every now and then.
