Central Jakarta Police Investigate Presence Of Fake Police Stop Vehicles In Cideng

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Metro Police are still investigating the viral video of a man in police uniform stopping a number of vehicles in the Cideng area, Gambir, Central Jakarta.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Komarudin said his party was still investigating the information.

"We continue to investigate, we ask for information from the people around. But they (local residents) do not know about it," said Kombes Komarudin when contacted, Tuesday, August 2.

To anticipate a similar incident, the Central Jakarta Metro Police dispatched members of the Police Paminal (internal security) in vulnerable locations to carry out monitoring.

"We place closed personnel to monitor. We deploy Paminal personnel," he said.

However, after being investigated by his side, the man in police uniform who often stopped the vehicle which was viral on social media was later nowhere to be found.

"With the crowd in the media, it disappears. We also place Paminal on several roads that have such indications," he said.

The police chief ensured that his party would take strict action if violations were found against members of the police in the field.

"Surely we will process, we will see the elements of the article that can ensnare the perpetrators. Whether the police are fake or not, we will see," he said.

Previously, a video of the action of a man in police uniform being involved in a verbal altercation after stopping a car in the Central Jakarta area. The incident had circulated in the virtual world, the Instagram account @forumwartawanpolri.

In the caption it was written that the police stopped a passing vehicle, when the video was recorded (by the driver) the police ran away. The caption also states that the incident occurred in Central Jakarta.
