Prophet's Birthday Attended By Rizieq Violates Health Protocols, Deputy Governor: We Remind Him

JAKARTA - Leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Muhammad Rizieq Shihab attended the Maulid Nabi event at the Al Afaf Taklim Council held by Al Habib Ali bin Abdurrahman Assegaf in Tebet, South Jakarta.

This event took place around 05.00 WIB and was broadcast on Youtube Front TV. At this event, many of the congregation who attended did not wear masks and did not keep their distance. Rizieq, who was originally wearing a mask, took off his mask every now and then.

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria admitted that he was also present at the Prophet's birthday. Riza admitted that there were a number of event participants who still violated health protocols, such as not wearing masks.

"Indeed, there are still our people who have not implemented health protocols," said Riza at the City Hall of DKI, Central Jakarta, Friday, November 13.

Riza said that his arrival as an official at the DKI Provincial Government was to remind the event organizers to obey health protocols.

"In every activity we always urge us to implement health protocols. For this reason, we are here to carry out our duties, remind people to use masks," he said.

Contacted separately, Head of Satpol PP DKI Arifin admitted that he did not impose sanctions against the Prophet's birthday, which Rizieq attended. He said, the Satpol PP was sufficient to educate the event organizers so that when making the next activity they no longer violate health protocols.

"We prioritize education to all. That is what we do continuously so that behavior change occurs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, how do we prevent and break the chain of transmission," said Arifin.

"Hopefully for the next activities, the committee and all those present will also pay attention to health protocols," he continued.

In fact, in Governor Regulation Number 51 of 2020 Concerning Transitional PSBB, there are sanctions given if the organizers of religious activities violate health protocols.

In Article 12 Paragraph (3), it is stated that every manager and / or person in charge of a house of worship who does not carry out the obligations of the health protocol will be subject to a sanction in the form of a written warning.

Then in Article 12 Paragraph (4), the imposition of sanctions is carried out by the mayor / regent and can be accompanied by related regional officials such as Satpol PP.
