Police Still Pursuing One Person Involved In Beating A Former Journalist To Death In Kramat Jati

JAKARTA - The East Jakarta Metro Police are still investigating two suspects, MRS and AE, in the case of abuse that caused the death of a former Papuan media journalist FP (45) on Tuesday, July 19, last.

The police said that at the time of the incident the suspect MRS was drunk, so that when he urinated in the victim's yard, MRS got angry. There was a quarrel between the two.

East Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Budi Sartono said his party was still investigating the motive for MRS urinating in the victim's yard, which was the beginning of the commotion that led to the beatings by MRS and AE.

"While it is still being investigated (the cause) is because the suspect has been drunk and has been drinking (hard)," said Kombes Budi when confirmed, Tuesday, August 2.

Currently, the police are still pursuing another perpetrator with the initials AR (DPO) who is suspected of being involved in the beating.

"There is one more person who is still on the DPO (fugitive) on behalf of AR, although we are still investigating whether AR was involved in Article 170 (of beatings), because the person concerned was indeed present at the time," he said.

Kombes Budi confirmed that in the incident that occurred near the Medan Jaya Bus Pool, Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, RT 04/08, Cililitan Village, Kramat Jati District, East Jakarta, there were three perpetrators.

The two perpetrators, namely MRS alias Ogep, along with his father, AE, have now been arrested and named suspects. While AR, is still in pursuit or at large.

"The suspect MRS was arrested in Bekasi on July 25, while AE was arrested in Riau on July 29," he explained.

In that case, the police secured a number of evidences, such as a machete and a one meter wooden block.

The two items became tools for the suspect to kill the victim.
