GARUT - Garut Police arrested a woman resident of Sukawening District, Garut Regency, West Java for creating and selling pornographic content through a number of her social media accounts, thereby making the people of Garut restless.

"Arrested based on reports from the public regarding a woman suspected of being a Garut resident who made a transaction service or conveyed an act of violating decency," said Garut Police Chief AKBP Wirdhanto Hadicaksono during a press conference related to the pornography case in Garut, Antara, Monday, August 1.

The suspect, a 20-year-old widow with one child, was reported by the public to be related to the creation of pornographic content. From the report, further investigations were carried out until they succeeded in arresting him in an apartment in the Bandung City area, last Sunday.

The woman, he said, created and presented a number of pornographic content on her social media such as Instagram, and others.

His social media was used to broadcast his content and then proceeded to buying and selling videos of himself that had pornographic elements.

"Through DM (direct message) the perpetrators offer 'full' service content such as nude videos," he said.

The police chief revealed that social media users who are interested and want to get other video views are asked to pay Rp. 300 thousand per video, one of the transactions is asking for seven videos.

"Seven means that the transaction between the perpetrator and the consumer is IDR 2.1 million, the transfer is through another application," said the Police Chief.

The suspect, said the Police Chief, admitted that he had carried out the pornography practice for two months and had already received tens of millions of rupiah.

As a result of his actions, the suspect languished in a detention cell at the Garut Police Headquarters and was charged with multiple layers of articles, namely Article 4 Paragraph (1) letter - d in conjunction with Article 29 of the Republic of Indonesia Law no. 44 of 2008 concerning Pornography and/or Article 27 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 45 Paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law no. 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.

A young Garut resident, Pramudya Ghifari, appreciates the police's action to legalize pornography perpetrators on social media because it has been troubling.

He hopes that the decisive action against social media users will serve as a warning to others so that pornographic behavior or content does not happen again.

"We as residents of Garut appreciate the police's action in taking action against pornography perpetrators on social media, I hope this case will serve as a warning to others," he said.
