Ahead Of The Termination Of PAM Jaya's Water Privatization Contract, What Will Happen To Palyja And Aetra Employees?

JAKARTA - The cooperation contract for the clean water management of Perumda PAM Jaya or the privatization of water with private parties, namely PT Aetra Air Jakarta and PT PAM Lyonnaise Jaya will expire in January 2023.

After Palyja and Aetra are no longer in charge of water management, what will happen to the employees of the two companies?

PAM Jaya Service Director, Syahrul Hasan said the fate of the employee was left to the internal mechanisms of Palyja and Aetra's respective management.

"What is the status of Aetra and Palyja? That is Palyja's internal, Aetra's internal," said Syahrul in a discussion quoted on Sunday, July 31.

Then, regarding the opportunity for Palyja and Aetra's HR to be recruited as PAM Jaya employees, Syahrul is still not sure. This is still under discussion by the transition team to terminate the cooperation contract.

"Will PAM Jaya be recruited? We are still in the study stage. Considering that August 1 to January 31, 2023 is a transition period," said Syahrul.

What is clear, continued Syahrul, is that when the water privatization cooperation contract ends, the PAM Jaya employee, who was the second employee at Palyja and Aetra during this decades-long collaboration, will return as a permanent PAM Jaya employee when the water privatization ends.

"In 1997-1998, Pam Jaya employees, which numbered approximately one thousand people, were delivered to Aetra and Palyja employees who were called seconded employees. So, on February 1, 2023 they will return to PAM Jaya," he explained.

For information, the transition team formed by PAM Jaya has a focus on five clusters. The first cluster, the transition team will take over the assets of Aetra and Palyja.

In the second cluster, the team will process business matters such as the production and service of clean water to residents, which were previously run by the two private partners. Then, the third cluster will focus on human resources.

"The fourth cluster is related to the legal aspect, the legal aspect of transferring water management as a whole. Meanwhile, the fifth cluster focuses on the main source.
