WIKA Fails To Build Star Hotels In Mataram, Nindya Karya And PTPP Continue

JAKARTA - The Office of Investment and One Stop Integrated Service (DPMPTSP) in the City of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), said that the plan to build a star hotel in Mataram was canceled because investors still saw the condition of economic stability.

"Of the two star hotels that investors plan to build in 2020, one hotel, namely Hotel PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (WIKA) canceled its construction plan because of the economic stability due to the COVID-19 epidemic," said Head of Mataram City DPMPTSP Irwan Rahadi as quoted from Antara, Thursday November 12th.

He said the WIKA hotel is planned to be built in front of the NTB Regional Police, Jalan Langko, with an investment value of more than IDR 100 billion. The exact figure for the investment value, he continued, has not yet been submitted.

The WIKA hotel development plan, he said, has only reached the notifying stage of fulfilling the commitment to processing a Building Construction Permit (IMB), while other documents including environmental permits have not been submitted.

"Initially investors were excited to immediately realize the hotel construction, but after the COVID-19 pandemic, they counted back and in the end declared they canceled investing in building hotels," he said.

Meanwhile, continued Irwan, the construction of the PT Nindya Karya hotel on Jalan Majapahit, Mataram City, is still continuing its construction plan because the IMB has been issued.

In addition to the PT Nindya Karya hotel, in 2019 the construction of the PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) hotel on Jalan Udayana is also under construction.

"The three hotels to be built in Mataram are BUMN in the construction sector. But PT WIKA's hotel has declared its cancelation," he said again.

According to him, the plan to build three star hotels in Mataram is to support the development of the Mandalika Creative Economy Zone (KEK), in Central Lombok Regency.

Based on the results of the study by Balitbang, Mataram still needs hotel development. Especially after the acceleration of the development of the KEK Mandalika was determined, which required the surrounding area to become a buffer zone.
