Ministry Of Health: High Fever And Lumps Of Skin Folds Characteristics Of Monkeypox

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Mohammad Syahril, said a high fever followed by lumps in the folds of the skin in several parts of the body was the hallmark of symptoms experienced by monkeypox or Monkeypox patients.

"When asked about the typical symptoms of monkeypox, there is a high fever above 38 degrees Celsius. Then you feel a severe headache, there is also lymphadenopathy, namely a lump in the neck, armpit, or groin," said Mohammad Syahril in a virtual press conference. BETWEEN, Wednesday, July 27.

Syahril who also serves as President Director of RSPI Sulianti Saroso said the incubation period of the disease lasts 5-13 days or 5-21 days with two periods.

The initial incubation period triggers symptoms of high fever followed by severe cephalgia or headache, lymphadenopathy, myalgia or muscle pain, and asthenia or lack of energy.

During the incubation period of the second or eruption period, a rash develops on the skin. The rash is 95 percent of the time on the face, palms of the hands, and 75 percent of the feet. Mucosa 20 percent, genitals 30 percent, eye mucous membranes 20 percent.

Syahril said previously there were nine suspected cases of Monkeypox which were then tested and the results were negative, so the number of cases in the country is still nil until now.

"The situation in Indonesia, from the first time it was in England until today, there have been no cases. Only yesterday there were nine suspected cases, but the results were negative, nothing was found," he said.
