Police Propose Citayam Fashion Week To Be Held During Car Free Day, Deputy Governor Of DKI Agrees

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria approved the police's suggestion that the Citayam Fashion Week (CFW) be held during car free day (CFD) every Sunday morning.

"You can do CFD on Sunday morning. That's also good. Car free day can be held for Citayam Fashion Week," said Riza at City Hall DKI Jakarta, Wednesday, July 27.

According to Riza, if the "SCBD" (Sudirman, Citayam, Bojonggede, Depok) youth style show this event, it will not interfere with traffic because it is held on holidays and in areas without motorized vehicles.

Riza invited these young people to take their own initiative to move the time and location of the Citayam Fashion Week event from the Dukuh Atas area every afternoon to evening to the CFD location.

"It's wide from the end of Thamrin Street to the end of Sudirman. Go ahead. That's also a solution. That's how it is. So the police are worried about (Citayam Fashion Week) there disturbing public order, disturbing those who pass by," he said.

Previously, the proposed Citayam Fashion Week activity was held during CFD, so that the activities of the community around the location would not be disturbed.

"For example, it was carried out on a car free day, which means that there were no passing vehicles," said the Traffic Director of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Latif Usman, when confirmed, Monday, July 25.

This suggestion is because CFW is carried out at a zebra crossing. Thus, potentially disrupting the flow of traffic. Moreover, the activity of the people of Jakarta at certain times is quite high.

However, Latif emphasized not prohibiting the activities of these young people. As long as you stick to the rules. So, road users or vehicles can co-exist with the children holding the CFW.

"In the sense that people's activities are allowed to use the road as long as they don't use other road users. We will not turn off the creativity of the community as long as it doesn't disturb us, we will take care of it," said Latif.
