KPU: All Political Parties Are Treated Fairly During Registration Of Participants In The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The General Elections Commission (KPU) said that all political parties received fair, proportional and equal treatment in organizing elections, including the registration process.

"Justice, proportionality and equality of the KPU's treatment of the party are, for example, the time space given is the same. For example, the opportunity to upload Sipol will start the same, June 24, 2022," said KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 26.

Then, the registration stage is also opened and closed at the same time so that political parties get the same opportunity to register. The KPU will hold the stages of registering political parties on August 1-14, 2022.

"The communication door (also opened) through the 'help desk', then through the WA group that has been created between the KPU and the party's LO, that's roughly the picture," said Hasyim.

Through the service desk (help desk), political parties as candidates for the 2024 General Election receive assistance services if they have difficulty accessing or other technical problems when accessing or uploading political party documents to the political party information system (Sipol).

In addition, the KPU also asked political parties to immediately convey when the chosen time plan came to the KPU to register as candidates for political parties participating in the 2024 General Election.

That, said KPU member Idham Holik, aims to ensure that political parties can get registration services properly and that there is no overlap or more than one political party registering with the KPU at the same time.

The KPU, he said, is of course always committed to holding general elections according to its principles, one of which is fairness, including the registration process.

Therefore, he said, at least one day before the arrival of the registration of political parties, political party leaders can convey when they plan to come to submit registration documents.

"Because if this happens (registering at the same time) we are worried that not only will we not be served properly when registering with us, but also there might be prejudices as to why 'we are behind, why does that come first' which we don't want," he said.
