Anies Speed Up Meeting So Rizeq Can Rest

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has accelerated a meeting with the leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Muhamamd Rizieq Shihab who has just returned to Indonesia.

Initially, Anies was reportedly going to visit Rizieq's residence today, Wednesday, November 11 at dawn. As it turned out, the meeting took place on Tuesday, November 10 last night.

This was revealed in uploading a photo on the Instagram account of the Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Tengku Zulkarnain, namely @ tengkuzulkarnain.id.

When confirmed, Tengku confirmed that the upload of the photo was a meeting last night. In the photo, Tengku takes a photo with Anies, Rizieq, and Rizieq's son-in-law, Hanif Alatas.

"Yes (Anies met Rizieq), last evening was finished until half past 9 pm," said Tengku when confirmed, Wednesday, November 11.

Tengku said that the reason for the accelerated meeting time was because he saw Rizieq's condition, who still needed rest after traveling from Saudi Arabia for hours.

If the meeting is held after the dawn congregation prayer time, it will cause a crowd. Thus, Rizieq's rest time was also reduced.

"At dawn, there are too many people. We feel sorry that he wants to rest. Last (night) was fast, at half past nine it was over," said Tengku.

Previously, the information on the Rizieq meeting was originally mentioned by the Deputy Secretary General of the Alumni Brotherhood (PA) 212, Novel Bamukmin. Novel said the meeting took place at dawn.

"Yes, that's right. Anies wants to meet HRS (Rizieq) at his residence. The plan is tomorrow at dawn," Novel said when confirmed, Tuesday, November 10.

Novel explained the reasons for the planned meeting between Anies and Rizieq. He said, Anies met in the context of friendship with the ulama who supported him during the 2017 DKI Jakarta Governor Election (Pilgub).

"It is limited to the relationship between the umara and the ulama. A form of longing for the umara who wants to meet the cleric. Because, the figure of Anies is already attached to the ulama," said Novel.
