JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has threatened to publish a wanted list (DPO) on behalf of the former Regent of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan (Kalsel), Mardani H. Maming. Investigators have yet to find a trace of him.

"KPK can carry out forced pick-ups and gradually issue DPOs which we will publish openly to the public," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri in a written statement, Monday, July 25.

Ali said investigators had searched Mardani's apartment in the Jakarta area. However, Mardani has not been found.

"The KPK team has not found the suspect at the intended place," he said.

The public is asked to provide information if they know of Mardani's whereabouts. The goal is that the investigation into allegations of bribery and gratification of mining business permits in Tanah Bumbu Regency can be thoroughly investigated.

"Anyone in the community who knows the whereabouts of the suspect can make an arrest or inform directly the KPK or the authorities," said Ali.

The KPK reminded that no party should hinder the investigation of the case that ensnared Mardani. Ali said anyone who did this could be subject to Article 21 or obstruction of the investigation.

"KPK invites the suspect to convey his legal rights in front of the investigative team so that the handling of this case can be resolved immediately," he said.

"We also remind anyone that the law is prohibited from obstructing the investigation process that we are currently carrying out by playing a role in deliberately hiding the whereabouts of the suspect because it is subject to criminal sanctions as stipulated in Article 21 of the Corruption Crime Act," concluded Ali.
