What Is The Fate Of DKI UMP? DKI Provincial Government Asks Until July 29

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria admitted that until now the DKI Provincial Government has not taken further steps on the decision of the Jakarta Administrative Court which ordered the 2022 DKI Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) to be lowered.

Riza asked all parties to wait until July 29 for the DKI Provincial Government to decide whether or not to file an appeal against the Administrative Court's decision which lowered the DKI UMP from Rp. 4.6 million to Rp. 4.5 million.

"The deadline is July 29," said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, July 25.

The former member of the DPR RI said that currently his party is considering proposals from related parties such as workers and entrepreneurs to find a way out of the polemic regarding wages in Jakarta.

"We consider all inputs, we discuss them together for the benefit of all. Not the interests of the provincial government, but the interests of workers, the interests of entrepreneurs, the interests of all, especially the interests of the citizens," he said.

The current UMP polemic is suspected to be the decision of the DKI Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN) which canceled the DKI Jakarta Governor's Decree (Kepgub) Anies Baswedan regarding the 2022 UMP. This decision granted all claims by the Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) DKI Jakarta.

In addition to canceling the Gubernatorial Decree, the Jakarta Administrative Court in its ruling also required Anies as the defendant to revoke Gubernatorial Decree No. 1517 of 2021 concerning the 2022 UMP which was issued on December 16, 2021.

Another ruling is that Anies obliges Anies to issue a new State Administrative Decree regarding the 2022 UMP based on the recommendation of the Wage Council of DKI Jakarta, namely the elements of the labor union Number: I/Depeprov/XI/2021 on November 15, 2021, amounting to Rp4,573,845.

Not accepting the decision, a group of workers from the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) held a demonstration in front of the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, last Wednesday, July 20.

In an audience with the DKI Provincial Government in the midst of a demonstration, the Head of the DKI Jakarta KSPI Regional Representative, Winarso, asked the DKI Provincial Government to determine whether or not to file an appeal against the PTUN decision before the deadline for submitting an appeal on July 29.

If Anies and his staff decide not to appeal and comply with the PTUN's decision to lower the DKI UMP nominal, Winarso threatens that the labor group will hold demonstrations again.

"We will try to have another dialogue with the Legal Bureau, stating whether it is an appeal or not. If it doesn't happen, we will come here again with our friends from the mass action," said Winarso.
