Batam Is A Heaven Of Illegal Cosmetic Products And That's Not Good

JAKARTA - Throughout 2022, the Batam Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) still finds many cosmetic and food products without a distribution permit or illegal in Batam, Riau Islands.

"From the results of our supervision, there are still cosmetic products, processed food products without a distribution permit in the Riau Islands," said the Head of BPOM Batam, Bagus Heri Purnomo, in Batam, Monday, July 25, as reported by Antara.

He said it was easy for cosmetic and food products without a distribution permit to enter Batam because this area is directly adjacent to neighboring countries, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam.

"This is indeed very risky for these illegal products to enter because Batam is located close to neighboring countries," he said.

He explained, of the two types of products, illegal cosmetic products dominate. Most of these products come from Singapore and China, so BPOM Batam has withdrawn to apply sanctions for suppliers.

"We can make withdrawals and there are also sanctions that we propose to the prosecutor's office," he said.

In addition, he also mentioned that his party will carry out more intensive supervision of products entering Batam.

"Education to the public must also be intensified so that they are smart in choosing cosmetic and food products," he said.
