KARAWANG - The Department of Industry and Trade of Karawang Regency, West Java, stated that the purchase of subsidized diesel at public gas stations (SPBU) using jerry cans has been released and there are no restrictions. Origin meets the requirements.

"Purchase of subsidized diesel using jerry cans is free, unrestricted and not prohibited, as long as you can show a letter of recommendation from the relevant office or from the local village head," said Head of the local Industry and Trade Agency (Disperindag) Suroto in Karawang, Antara, Thursday, July 21.

The purchase of subsidized diesel using jerry cans is usually carried out by rice milling machine business actors and fishermen. In addition, said Suroto, it is also used as fuel for agricultural and livestock equipment.

"The important thing is that the subsidized diesel is to be used as fuel for rice milling machines, fishing boats and others, not for resale. If it is for resale, it is not allowed," he said.

According to him, every purchase of subsidized diesel using jerry cans must accompany a letter of recommendation from the relevant office or from the local village head.

Asked about the number of letters of recommendation issued for the purchase of subsidized diesel, Suroto did not mention the number.

He only mentioned that most purchases of subsidized diesel using jerry cans only accompany a letter of recommendation from the local village head.

"(Letters of recommendation) from the office are almost non-existent. Most of them (buyers of subsidized diesel using jerry cans) have recommendations from the local village head," he said.

He said it was permissible to purchase subsidized diesel using jerry cans in accordance with the circular issued by Pertamina. However, he did not mention the number of the circular in question.

Meanwhile, based on Presidential Regulation No. 191 of 2014 it is stated that the purchase of subsidized diesel must be accompanied by verification and recommendations from the relevant agencies, not from a letter of recommendation from the village head.

Monitoring at a number of gas stations in the Karawang area, currently the purchase of subsidized diesel using jerry cans is quite widespread.

According to information from several gas station officers at a number of points, they mostly serve subsidized diesel buyers using jerry cans that accompany a letter of recommendation from the village head.
