A Total Of 10 Bodies Of Victims Of The Sinking Of KM Cahaya Arafah Were Found By The SAR Team

TERNATE - The Ternate Basarnas Search and Rescue Office, North Maluku (Malut), stated that the joint SAR team was continuing to search for the victims of KM Cahaya Arafah who drowned in the waters of Tokaka, South Halmahera. A total of 10 bodies were found.

Head of Basarnas Ternate Fathur Rahman said the SAR team again found one victim KM Cahaya Arafah floating on the surface of the water by KRI Layar about 6.2 NM from LKP at around 15:45 WIT.

The victim was then taken to the Malut Polda DVI post at Tokaka Port by the Joint SAR Team for identification. After being identified, one victim who was found was identified as Sarjono Pelisir (57 years old) from Oha Village, West Gane District.

The victim found was a crew member of the KM Cahaya Arafah ship which also sank along with other passengers.

"The bodies of the crew members were then handed over to the family, so that with the addition of one more victim, a total of six victims were found on the fourth day of the search and a total of 10 people, with three remaining in the search process," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, 21 July.

Data on the victims found dead on the fourth day were Risal Badri (9 years), Ramla Gonofo (60 years), Abubakar Mahmud (70 years), Asmania Haji (61 years) and Afifah Kaisa (3 years).

Previously, on the third day, the Joint Search and Rescue team found four dead victims, including Siti Presenta Pakelo (42 years old) from Joronga Island, Hamima (69 years old) from Dolik Gane Barat, Nurjae Ahmad (50 years old) from Tokaka and a toddler. named Rahman Amran (4 years) from Tokaka, South Halmahera Regency.

Fathur explained that the victims were evacuated to the KN Pandudewanata ship and then taken to the port of Tokaka Village and handed over to their respective families.
