Bawaslu Review NGO Report On Zulkifli Hasan

MALANG - The General Elections Supervisory Body conducted a study on NGO reports related to alleged campaign violations committed by the General Chair of PAN Zulkifli Hasan.

Bawaslu chairman Rahmat Bagja said his party would conduct a study on the NGO report to determine whether there were violations.

"We will definitely examine whether it meets the formal and material requirements. Is this a violation or not. If it is a violation, what is a violation," said Rahmat as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 19.

The Civil Society group consisting of Kata Rakyat, LIMA Indonesia and KIPP Indonesia reported an alleged campaign violation by Zulkifli Hasan when he visited the PAN cheap market in Lampung on July 9, 2022.

Zulkifli was reported about alleged campaign practices using state facilities, as well as money politics. The Civil Society Group said, from the video circulating, there was an activity to distribute cooking oil and an invitation to vote for certain candidates.=

Rahmat explained that the study by Bawaslu regarding alleged campaign violations by the Minister of Trade took approximately 1 week.

"Currently the study stage, approximately for 7 days," he said.

Regarding the sanctions, he continued, it will be determined after Bawaslu conducts a study that proves that it is true that there were campaign violations committed by Muhammad Lutfi's successor.

"For sanctions, whether this includes the use of the relevant authority as a state official, we must examine it first. Is it a campaign or not, or socialization," he said.

The Civil Society Group reported an alleged campaign violation by Zulkifli Hasan during a working visit to Lampung, on July 9, 2022. There were two notes that caught the NGO's attention.

The first note is that there is a form of campaign to elect someone and there are allegations of money politics by distributing free cooking oil. In addition, there is also a promise to distribute free cooking oil in two months.

Civil Society Groups said that based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections, Article 280 paragraph (1) h, it was stated that state officials who were campaigning were prohibited from using government facilities.

Then, Article 281 paragraph (1)a states that it is prohibited to use the facilities of his office. In addition, Article 280(1)j states that it is prohibited to promise or give money or other materials to election campaign participants.
