SERANG - The Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Serang Police arrested RM (23) a drug dealer of methamphetamine in a rented house in the Rau Timur area, Cimuncang Village, Serang City on Sunday, July 17.

"That's right, the arrest of RM, a drug dealer of methamphetamine, at the suspect's house, precisely in East Rau, Cimuncang Village, Serang City", said Head of the Serang Narcotics Unit, AKP Michael K Tandayu, Tuesday, July 19.

Michael explained that the team investigated after receiving information from residents regarding narcotics trafficking.

"Initially the officers received reports from the community in the area about suspicious activities because the rented place was often visited by unknown people", explained Michael.

Michael said that the suspect was not a resident of the area and was an immigrant.

"The suspect RM is an immigrant and his rented house is often visited by residents from outside the village, even guests who come do not know the time until the early hours of the morning", said Michael.

Armed with community complaints, the Serang Narcotics Satres team moved to investigate the information.

“From the complaints of the community, the Serang Narcotics Unit Team of the Serang Police then moved to deepen the information. And on Sunday, July 17 at around 02.30, officers carried out raids and secured the suspect in his rented house, "said Michael.

From the arrest, several pieces of evidence were obtained, including a cigarette pack containing 20 packages of methamphetamine ready to be circulated in the pocket of the pants worn by the suspect.

“Officers also secured a mobile phone unit which is usually used as a means of drug transactions, along with the evidence. RM was secured to the Serang Police for further examination, "said Michael.

Michael added, that from the results of the examination, the suspect admitted that the goods were obtained from a dealer found in the Central Jakarta area.

"The suspect was shopping for methamphetamine in Central Jakarta but did not know further about the identity of the dealer because the transaction was carried out on the street", said Michael.

"The perpetrators who run the business of selling methamphetamine have been doing it for about 2 months, and the illegal business was deliberately carried out because the suspect, who only graduated from junior high school, had difficulty getting a job", he said.
