Ukrainian Ambassador Hopes Russia Invasion Ends Before G20 Summit In Bali

YOGYAKARTA - Ukrainian Ambassador to Indonesia Vasyl Hamianin hopes that Russia's invasion of his country will end before the G20 Summit, in Bali, in November 2022.

"We all hope that the invasion of Ukraine will end soon because we still have 3.5 to four months before the meeting in Bali takes place," Vasyl Hamianin said during a press conference at the Integrated Campus of the Indonesian Islamic University (UII), Sleman, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 18th.

"So every day is precious time to ensure that the war there ends soon," Vasyl continued.

He hoped that Indonesia's position as the presidency or host of the G20 meeting would be able to unite G20 member countries to work together to stop Russia's attack on Ukraine.

According to him, this is a historic moment for President Joko Widodo and the Indonesian people to contribute to bringing about peace over the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"This is a historic moment for President Joko Widodo, the Government and the Indonesian Nation," he said.

According to Vasyl, international support for stopping the invasion is not related to likes or dislikes against Ukraine or Russia, but rather to the humanitarian aspect.

"This is the need for each of us to take a position whether we are in a position to side with war or a position against humanity," he said.

Vasyl Hamianin said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky might attend the G20 summit in Bali at the end of this year if the situation and conditions in his country are under control.

"It really depends on the conditions that occur in Ukraine. If indeed the attacks are still taking place every day then this possibility may fail. But there is still a possibility," he said.

As is known, President Joko Widodo has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the G20 summit in Bali because Russia is a member of the G20, while Ukraine was invited because it is part of the issue of world economic recovery.
