JAKARTA - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) are strengthening cooperation in the intellectual property sector together with intellectual property offices from other countries.
"Indonesia supports the development of the intellectual property system globally and continues to make efforts that can have a positive impact and carry out transformations in collaboration with WIPO," said Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Hamonangan Laoly in a written statement quoted by Antara, Sunday, July 17.
This was conveyed by Yasonna on the sidelines of the 63rd WIPO General Assembly Session at the WIPO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
Yasonna explained that the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights delegation held bilateral meetings with WIPO, Kyrgyzstan Intellectual Property Office, WIPO Singapore Office, and Korean Intellectual Property Office on Friday 15 July.
During the meeting, Indonesia emphasized discussions related to technical cooperation, whether it was related to increasing human resource capacity (HR), as well as technical programs that support the development of the intellectual property ecosystem in the country.
Yasonna said that the cooperation to support IP Academy development in Indonesia includes training on alternative dispute resolution and the establishment of a collective management institution for artistic goods in Indonesia.
The presence of the Kemenkumham delegation at the 63rd WIPO General Assembly is expected to contribute to the development of a better intellectual property ecosystem.
"Of course it is in order to encourage national economic growth," he said.
