DKI Provincial Government Arranges Sidewalks To Be Friendly To Road Users

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has arranged a number of sidewalks in Jakarta by carrying out the concept of being friendly to all people or road users (Complete Street).

Jakarta Provincial Government Bina Marga Department staff, Danil Jakson said that the sidewalk arrangement is to provide better comfort to pedestrians and other road users. Tuesday, July 12.

The DKI Provincial Government has deployed a project coordinator to oversee the construction of the pavement, so that the work will be completed by August 2022.

"To arrange the sidewalks, it takes 32 civil workers and 12 workers specifically for andesite stone installation and two heavy equipment," said Project Coordinator Mayu.

Mayu explained that with a predetermined number of workers the project is expected to be completed along 200 meters every week.

Based on the official website of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Bina Marga, the pavement layout in the Central Jakarta area includes Jalan Juanda along 1,000 meters, Jalan Pecenongan (1,100 meters), Jalan Penataran (1,000 meters), and Jalan Proklamasi (2,540 meters).

The complete street concept is a sidewalk design that fulfills the need for space for pedestrians, cyclists, adds space for public transportation and its supporting facilities, as well as provides space for private vehicles and the remaining space that can be used for on-street parking.

The provision of facilities for pedestrians and cyclists is inseparable from the concept of complete street and the road can be accessed by all users, ages and abilities.

In addition to the sidewalks in Central Jakarta, a number of sidewalks in the Kebayoran area of South Jakarta have also been arranged, such as Cikajang Street, Trunojoyo Street, Gunawarman Street, Pattimura Street, and Sultan Hasanuddin Street.
