NTB - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded the minimum temperature in Sembalun, at the foot of Mount Rinjani, East Lombok Regency, reaching 12 degrees Celsius.

"Based on model data, the minimum surface temperature prediction in the Sembalun area is 12 degrees Celsius and the maximum surface temperature prediction is 32 degrees Celsius," said BMKG forecaster for the Zainuddin Abdul Madjid Meteorological Station, Lombok, Nur Siti Zulaichah in a statement in Praya, West Nusa Tenggara ( NTB), Tuesday 12 July.

He said that the minimum temperature usually occurs between early morning and early morning. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature occurs during the day, so the weather in the dry season feels cold at night.

Meanwhile, the minimum air temperature that occurs in the rainy season tends to be warmer, ranging from 18 degrees Celsius to 24 degrees Celsius. "The temperature in the Sembalun area is currently colder than the temperature during the rainy season," he said.

Previously, the BMKG stated that currently most areas of NTB have entered the dry season, so the temperature will feel colder than usual from night to morning. "When the dry season arrives, the air temperature will be cooler up to 21 degrees Celsius," he said.

The temperature will feel colder than usual, because it is influenced by the Australian monsoon wind which brings dry and cold air masses, the wind moves from Australia to Asia through Indonesia, especially NTB.

"During the dry season, the relative humidity and low cloud cover will affect the temperature at night until early in the morning," he said.

He said that during the day the sun will feel hot and stinging, because of the lack of cloud cover, at that time the short waves emitted from the sun will be perfectly absorbed by the earth's surface. When the night is clear and there is no cloud cover, the long waves will radiate completely into the sky without being reflected back by the clouds.

"So, the temperature will feel colder than usual," he said.

Temperature conditions that feel cooler at night occur from now until next August. "Usually during the peak of the dry season in June, July and August, the temperature is cooler at night," he concluded.
