MANOKWARI - The West Papua Provincial Education Office has instructed the heads of SMA, SMK and SLB in the region to provide dispensation or relief from the cost of school supplies for students from underprivileged families.

The Head of the West Papua Education Office, Barnabas Dowansiba, explained that the dispensation in question was in the form of relief from paying school supplies for underprivileged students by paying in installments or in installments.

"As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, it affects parents' income and income, so for those who cannot afford the payment process can be carried out in several stages according to an agreement with the school," said Dowansiba in Manokwari, Antara, Monday, July 11.

The policy is stated in the West Papua Disdik circular letter No. 420/981/DP-PB/VII/2022, only for new students who are underprivileged, and does not apply to old students' tuition fees.

School supplies can be paid a minimum of two times and a maximum of three times in installments to the school.

The circular is specifically for new students, we know that together with the high cost of school supplies, registration is free for state schools," explained Dowansiba.

The West Papua Education Office also warns schools to avoid illegal fees that can harm parents and schools.
