JAKARTA - Moch Subchi Azal Tsani (MSAT), who is a suspect in the case of sexual abuse of female students in the Shiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, East Java, finally surrendered. However, it takes a long process until the man is willing to take part in the legal process.

The forced effort to pick up Mas Bechi was carried out on Thursday at around 08.00 WIB. There were many obstacles that the police had to overcome. Starting from resistance to tough negotiations with the parents of the suspect, who incidentally the owner of the Shiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School.

The first hurdle occurred when the police were about to enter the Shiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School. The mass group, which seemed to be waiting for the police to arrive, tried to block it.

Geses are unavoidable. Until finally, decisive action was taken. The group was secured.

The Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Dirmanto, said that the police who deliberately searched the Islamic boarding school area to find the whereabouts of Mas Bechi actually found dozens of people who were inside the Islamic boarding school. However, they are not students.

"We are keeping the conditions inside so that the situation is safe so that people from outside the hut we comb. We check one by one. If they are not Pondok or santri people, we will bring them," said Dirmanto, Thursday, July 7.

They were also taken for intensive examination. The goal is to find out why they were inside the Islamic boarding school.

Later, it was discovered that those who were arrested were mass sympathizers of Bechi. A total of 320 people were arrested.

In fact, the results of the examination of hundreds of sympathizers were not only from Jombang, but also from outside the city. Some even come from Lampung.

"We have secured 320 MSAT sympathizers. They are now being held at the Jombang Police Station," he said.

Alot Negotiations

This forced pick-up effort was colored by the tough negotiations between the police and Mas Bechi's parents.

Based on the video circulating, it appears that the Jombang Police Chief, AKBP Moh Nurhidayat, is having a dialogue with MSAT's parents, a suspect in the case of sexual abuse of students.

In the video, MSAT's father asks the Jombang Police Chief not to pick up his son. He promised the police chief he would take his own son to the East Java Police.

However, Dirmanto denied the matter of the negotiations. This is because the actions taken by his party are purely an attempt to forcefully pick them up.

"This is purely a forced pick-up activity, there is no negotiation effort between the police and anyone (Ponpes Siddiqiyayah assistant)," said Dirmanto

A few hours passed, at midnight to be exact, Mas Bechi finally came out of the Islamic boarding school where he was hiding. He decided to surrender.

East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nico Afinta said after surrendering himself, Mas Bechi was immediately taken to the East Java Regional Police. He was temporarily secured so as not to run away.

"The person concerned surrendered," said Nico.

Then, Nico ensured that the follow-up process for the children of the Jombang kiai would be carried out. Mas Bechi will be handed over to the Prosecutor's Office for the second stage of sexual harassment cases.

"Next week we will hand it over to the Prosecutor's Office," said Nico.

Moch Subchi Azal Tsani alias Mas Bechi is one of three suspects in the sexual harassment case against female students. The determination of his status as a suspect has been carried out since 2019.

However, when he was about to carry out phase II or transfer to the Prosecutor's Office, the police failed to arrest the perpetrator. Even his father, who is an influential kiai in Jombang, asked for his son's case to be stopped.

The perpetrator had filed a pretrial with the Surabaya District Court, but the application was rejected by the panel of judges in December 2021 due to a shortage of the respondent.
