Before Buying Sacrifice Animals, Acting Regent Of Bekasi Asked His Citizens To Check Livestock Documents

BEKASI - Residents of Bekasi Regency were asked to check the completeness of health documents before buying sacrificial animals. This step is to ensure that animals are in good health and free from nail and mouth disease (PMK).

Acting (Pj) Bekasi Regent Dani Ramdan said efforts to prevent the spread of the PMK outbreak were continuing. Dozens of officers were deployed to monitor the circulation of livestock and are ready to sacrifice in each sub-district. In addition, animal distribution traffic is closely monitored.

Dani said residents do not need to worry about buying sacrificial animals even though there are several animals exposed to PMK in Bekasi Regency.

The reason is, officers have examined cows, goats, buffaloes, and sheep that come in from outside the area for sale in Bekasi Regency.

"It is ensured that the animals are healthy. I checked here, it turns out that there has been an examination and a necklace has also been given. People don't have to worry because the animals that enter are already under investigation by the Agriculture Service," he said in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, quoted from Antara, Thursday, July 7.

Dani still urges residents to first check the animal health documents before buying. Every animal that has been examined and confirmed to be healthy has a necklace.

Based on the results of a review at various sales and livestock locations, the majority of livestock have received necklaces. "So for those sold, it is certain that the cows or goats are healthy, there is no problem. But alert remains important," he said.

According to him, this vigilance is important to prevent rogue traders from making fake documents or healthy necklaces on livestock that have not actually been examined.

"The shower is wearing a necklace. If you haven't worn a necklace, ask the seller if you already have one, it means it's safe. But make sure it's authenticity," he said.

His party supervised each sub-district and vaccinated 700 livestock in Bekasi Regency. If there are livestock from outside Bekasi Regency that have not been vaccinated, the Bekasi Regency Government will vaccinate to avoid the risk of spreading PMK.

"Not only supervision in the sub-district, we have also vaccinated 700 livestock in Bekasi Regency. Meanwhile, from outside the area that will be sold for sacrifices, we intercept them at the entrances, we check the vaccine card, if it is not available, we will vaccinate it here," he said.
