Happy To Get Social Assistance, Satai Traders At Medan Petisah Market: Pak Jokowi Invites Me To The State Palace

SUMUT - President Jokowi is on a visit to review infrastructure and distribute social assistance (bansos) in North Sumatra. Accompanied by First Lady Iriana, today Jokowi visited Petisah Market, Medan, North Sumatra.

Based on a report from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Jokowi and Iriana arrived at Petisah Market at 08.00 WIB. Traders and the people who are in the market warmly welcome.

The President immediately distributed a number of social assistance in the form of working capital assistance (BMK) and direct cash assistance (BLT) for cooking oil to the beneficiary communities in one of the famous markets in Medan City.

Before entering the market, Jokowi and Mrs. Iriana took the time to buy merchandise from hawkers and satai sellers.

Yunita, a satai trader, admitted that she was very happy to meet the Head of State who also bought her satai merchandise. He hopes that one day he can be invited to the State Palace.

"Alhamdulillah, we went around, we reprimanded Mr. Jokowi, he called him, he bought it. Thank God, we were given more basic necessities. Very happy, I rarely get to meet the Head of State of the Republic of Indonesia. I just want Mr. Jokowi to invite me to the State Palace," said Yunita.

After buying satai, Jokowi and Iriana went into the market and looked to the fruit and vegetable seller. President Jokowi is seen buying corn, while Ibu Iriana is buying kweni mangoes and red guavas.

"Actually, the corn cost Rp. 36 thousand, but you paid Rp. 200 thousand. Thank you very much, sir, you got the sustenance. It is very nice for Mr. Jokowi to come to Petisah Market, you come here often," said Sopiana, a corn seller.

Sopiana added, "I convey that Mr. Jokowi is always healthy, can stabilize our economy in Indonesia."

Not only providing social assistance to traders, the President also provided cash assistance to motorized rickshaw drivers.

Hendika, a motorized rickshaw driver, said he was happy to get help from President Jokowi. He will use the aid to buy various necessities.

"Hopefully Pak Jokowi has a long life, cheap sustenance," he said.

Also accompanying President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana in the activity were Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Governor of North Sumatra Edy Rahmayadi, and Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution.
