One Hectare Of Aceh's Land Burns In The Midst Of Wet Drought

BANDA ACEH - Forest and land fires (karhutla) have occurred again in the middle of the wet dry season in Aceh which scorched about one hectare of land in Simpang Empat Rajawali Village, Ketol District, Central Aceh Regency.

"The final condition of the fire has been successfully extinguished by officers in the field," said Head of the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) Ilyas through the Data and Information Center (Pusdatin) in Banda Aceh, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 6.

Ilyas explained that the fire occurred at around 11.50 WIB. The burned area is about 1 hectare. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by officials.

When receiving information on forest and land fires, continued Ilyas, the Central Aceh BPBD immediately dispatched a unit of the main fire fighting fleet (Damkar) to the main post to extinguish the fire.

At around 13.50 WIB, the officers managed to extinguish the fire so that it did not spread to other areas.

"We are deploying one unit of the main post firefighter fleet to extinguish the fire. The cause is still under investigation, he said.

Meanwhile, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that Aceh is currently still in the wet dry season. This condition is expected to last until next September.

"So we urge residents not to clear land by burning in the middle of this dry season," said BMKG Class I Data and Information Coordinator Sultan Iskandar Muda Aceh Besar Zakaria Ahmad.

Moreover, said Zakaria, apart from the wet dry season, Aceh is also in the west wind season. Usually the wind speed in this season can reach between 20-60 kilometers per hour, and has entered the category of strong winds.

"We are still in the wet dry season, so sometimes it rains in the morning, later in the afternoon or evening it will be sunny, so people need to be vigilant," he said.

For information, the wet dry season is a condition where it still rains even though it is entering the dry season.
