Scavengers Found Lying Covered In Blood, Witness Says Because Of Fighting For Valuables

JAKARTA - A man was found lying covered in blood on the sidewalk of Jalan Gatot Soebroto, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta. The man was allegedly a victim of abuse by his professional colleague, a scavenger.

Head of RW Kuningan Barat Eddy Latuheru (68) said the scavengers were found by an online motorcycle taxi driver (Ojol) on Tuesday, July 5, if it was evening.

Based on the information from the motorcycle taxi driver, the victim was beaten with an iron by the perpetrator until he lay on the road.

"At that time, the driver saw another scavenger who had hit the victim with an iron. Because when we looked for cone blocks around here, there were none," said Eddy when met at the location, Wednesday, July 6.

Edy continued, the victim was found to be in a serious condition. He said blood was splattered on his face.

"His condition is alive, not dead. When he was taken to the ambulance, he was still alive, but he couldn't see because his eyes were swollen," said Eddy.

He said he didn't know what caused the incident. However, based on the information he knows, there are two versions, namely because of women and valuables.

The witness added that in the incident, he suspected that there were two people who abused the victim until she was covered in blood.

"According to the ojek driver, someone hit him. (Cause) There are probably two versions, because the girl took someone's stuff. Because she kept the cart. But I asked the ojek driver again, he left immediately," he said.

Contacted separately, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mampang Police, AKP Budi Laksono, admitted that he did not know about the incident. However, he said his party would investigate the man covered in blood.
