PALEMBANG - The South Sumatra Light Railroad Management Center (BPKARSS) of the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation apologized to the public for the disruption of the LRT operation in Palembang due to the cut off of PLN's electricity supply.

The head of BPKARSS, Dedik Tri Istiantara, said that the PLN electricity supply cut would take place on Monday (4/7) starting at 18.31 WIB until 21.30 WIB.

From there, it resulted in disruptions to the six LRT trains that are currently operating, namely the two train series from the Hajj Dormitory Station and the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport Station. Next, there are two series of Demang Stations, and two series of trains at Palembang Polrestabes Station.

"We apologize to all the people who use the LRT transportation service for the inconvenience caused by the condition of the power supply cut," said Dedik in a statement quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 5.

Dedik ensured that the LRT service could return to normal operation on Tuesday (5/7), starting from the Airport Station to the last stop at DJKA Station according to operating hours from 06.00 to 20.36 WIB.

"BPKARSS deeply regrets the incident (the power supply cut) and hopes that a similar incident will not happen again," he said.

BPKARSS has also entered into a premium service contract with PT. PLN to ensure the availability of electricity supply to ensure the reliability of LRT services.

It was previously known that a number of LRT passengers had to walk quite a distance because the train they were traveling in stopped in the middle of the rail track.

The incident was recorded in a 26-second amateur video circulating on social media Instagram, on Monday (4/7) evening at around 18.13 WIB. The video shows a number of passengers getting off the LRT across the rail track to reach Demang Station.
