Supporting Cattle Self-Sufficiency Program In 2026, Regency Government Reveals Population In Central Bangka Reaches 6,330 Heads

BABEL - Assistant for the Economy and Development of the Secretariat of the Central Bangka Regency Government, Akhmad Syarifullah, said that the cattle population in Central Bangka Regency has so far reached 6,330 heads.

"This number places Central Bangka as the district with the largest cattle population in Babylon," said Akhmad after opening a training for independent breeders in Namang, Bangka Belitung (Babel) Islands Province, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 5.

According to Nizam, this achievement certainly makes Central Bangka even more enthusiastic to increase the cattle population, which is supported by the increasing public interest in raising cattle.

"This is marked by the increasing number of waiting lists for members in farmer groups and various efforts made to increase the cattle population, including efforts to maintain livestock health during the FMD outbreak," he said.

Head of the Central Bangka Agriculture and Livestock Service, Sajidin, said the cattle population was donated from farmers who are members of groups or individuals spread across several sub-districts.

"We continue to encourage farmers to continue cultivating cows with a good pattern by translating the artificial insemination program," he said.

The local government continues to distribute cattle assistance on a rolling basis to farmers in groups in order to support the national program, namely cattle self-sufficiency in 2026.

"To make this area self-sufficient in cattle, of course by running an artificial insemination program," he said.

He said that currently several villages have started to promote cattle farming, both individually and in groups, such as in Dusun Air Medang.

"The cattle breeder group in Air Medang Hamlet has been running quite well, there are even residents who are able to educate their children, build houses and buy cars, one hundred percent from the cattle farming business," he said.
