Parents Of Suspect Of Beating Up Regrets School's Hands Off Knowing Student's Case

JAKARTA - Kulsum as the parent of the perpetrator with the initials B regrets the attitude of the school which does not want to be more involved in the case of beatings carried out by students.

Kulsum recounted that the incident took place on May 28. Then, the victim's parents made a report to the South Jakarta Metro Police on May 29, 2022.

"On May 29, the case was reported, on May 30 the school already knew, on May 17 we only found out, after receiving a police call," Kulsum told reporters at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Tuesday, July 5.

"The school got out of hand, didn't tell us, it was as if we were keeping this issue going for long," he added.

Kulsum said that if he knew about the incident from the start, he would apologize to the victim and his parents. He was even willing to bow down for the sake of an apology from the victim.

"We really don't know, if for a moment we were informed by the school about what happened, we would apologize, if we were asked to prostrate, we prostrate. Because we know our child was wrong," he concluded.

As is known, the police have named six people as suspects in the case of beatings. The victim and perpetrator are students at a high school in South Jakarta. The perpetrator is the victim's classmate. The motive is seniority.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Ridwan Soplanit, explained that the trigger for the beating was allegedly due to a trivial issue, namely seniority. There are six suspects.

"There is a group arrogance like that. The social problem is this. This victim is their classmate," Ridwan confirmed, Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
