The theft occurred at Indomaret Jalan Raya Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali on Saturday (2/7).
At that time, at around 15.00 WITA, the victim came to work and put the bag in the locker. When the victim was going home after work at around 23.30 WITA, he found the locker open.
When checked, the wallet containing Rp700 thousand in cash, the ATM card and savings book were gone. It was later discovered that there was a withdrawal transaction of Rp. 10 million.
"For this incident, the victim suffered a loss of Rp. 12,500,000. Subsequently, it was reported to the Kuta Police for further processing," added the Orpa Police Commissioner.
The case was investigated by examining witnesses and CCTV footage. The perpetrator was arrested on Monday, July 4 in South Kuta.
When examined, the perpetrator admitted to stealing the victim's wallet by entering a mini market that was busy with buyers. The perpetrator went straight to the warehouse breaking into the locker.
"The perpetrator admitted to withdrawing money from the victim's BCA ATM in the amount of Rp. 10 million five times. Withdrawing using the pin number, the month of the victim's year of birth," he said.
When asked by reporters, the police have not provided an explanation about how the victim's ATM PIN can be known by the perpetrators.
