JAKARTA - The West Jakarta City Government (Jakbar City Government) has deployed 250 joint personnel consisting of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Transportation Sub-Department (Sudinhub), and several related agencies to sterilize street vendors in the Kota Tua area.
"Their job is not to take action, but to encourage and at the same time try to put them in the locations that we have prepared," said Assistant for Economic Development for the West Jakarta City Government, Imron, quoting Antara, Monday, July 4.
Imron explained that the street vendors will be directed by officers to move to the two locations that have been provided, namely the Fostered Location (Lokbin) behind the Batavia Cafe and the Cipta Niaga Building area.
According to Imron, this is so that street vendors in Kota Tua can sell in the space provided so that this area looks neat, safe, and comfortable.
The monitoring of the Kota Tua location will last for two weeks starting from Tuesday, during which time Imron hopes that the street vendors who originally decorated the sidewalks will be moved.
In addition, the officers will also urge two-wheeled vehicles not to park carelessly in the Old City area.
"There are many illegal parking points, such as at pospol, Bank Mandiri museums. Many motorized vehicles, including online motorcycle taxis," he said.
There is socialization to bring order to the Kota Tua area, so that the community becomes comfortable.
"We continue to do socialization, meaning we don't prohibit them, but at least they remain orderly," said Imron.
Imron ensured that the security at the location would continue even after two weeks had passed.
"After two weeks, we will continue to maintain it, only with less than 250 personnel," said Imron.
Imron hopes that these efforts can help the DKI Provincial Government in managing the Old City area to be more orderly and comfortable. If it is orderly and comfortable, it will have an impact on the level of the economy.
