The eight crew members of the ill-fated ship were the captain named La Deni, Mahudi (KKM), Askari, Yuskar, Usman, Sulaiman, Ode Yasmin, and Yursi as the crew.
According to him, KN SAR Abhimanyu, which brought 23 joint personnel, departed from LIPI Ambon Port and traveled about 118 NM to the Lucipara Islands to evacuate the crew.

According to information from the captain named La Deni, KM Rizky Mulia departed from Asmat Regency, Papua Province on April 28, 2022 to Probolinggo Regency (East Java).
When entering the waters of the Banda Sea, the ship carrying 2,300 gaharu sacks had some damage to the main engine, but it was successfully repaired and returned to continue the voyage.
On May 31, the motorboat was escorted by a Navy ship into Ambon City for inspection of shipping documents.
After completing the inspection, on June 18, 2022 KM Rizky Mulia again continued the voyage to Probolinggo with a cargo of 2,300 sacks of Gaharu Kemedangan.
However, on Sunday (19/6) the ship was hit by high waves in the Banda Sea waters which caused the rudder to break and drifted for four days before sinking in the waters of Mai Island, Central Maluku Regency.
The eight victims were rescued by a fishing boat from Baubau, Southeast Sulawesi and evacuated to Mai Island (Malteng) to be handed over to the lighthouse keeper of the Ambon Navigation district for treatment.
