JAKARTA - Buddhist social activist Lieus Sungkharisma claims that the meme of the Borobudur Temple stupa that resembles the face of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is not an insult.

In fact, Lieus is willing to bet that none of the Buddhists feel hurt because of the meme that Roy Suryo uploaded.

"I'll bet there are angry Buddhists? There aren't any!" Lieus told reporters, Thursday, June 30.

Actually, for Buddhists, stupas or statues and the contents of Borobudur Temple are not something to be worshiped. However, the statue symbolizes the cleanliness of both the heart and mind.

"Buddhism is not an idol that is worshiped, but the heart and mind must be clean, don't do evil, add holy virtues to the heart and mind, that's the pointers," he said.

In fact, Lieus said that the reporting of Roy Suryo in this case reflected a 'short axis' attitude.

This means that the legal process is directly chosen as the solution to the problem. In fact, he said, the problems that occur can be solved in other ways.

"So if there are people who talk, don't be called out a little bit. I'm still happy to be able to clarify, many are listening," said Lieus.

The first report is on behalf of Kurniawan Santoso. The report is numbered LP B/3042/VI/2022/SPKT/ Polda Metro Jaya dated June 20, 2022.

Furthermore, the second report on behalf of Kevin Wu. Dated June 20, 2022, the report was numbered LP/B/0293/VI/2022/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri. However, now, Kevin Wu's report has been delegated to the Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) to the Metro Jaya Police.
