Knock! The MCH Bill Which Regulates 6 Months Of Maternity Leave Is Officially An Initiative Of The DPR

JAKARTA - The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia ratified the Draft Law on Maternal and Child Welfare (RUU KIA) as a DPR initiative bill at the 26th Plenary Meeting of the DPR RI for Session V Session Year 2021-2022, Thursday, June 30.

The plenary meeting chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, was physically attended by 37 members. Meanwhile, there were 167 members of the Council who attended virtually.

Dasco asked the opinion of the factions on the Draft Bill on the Initiative for Members of the DPR RI on Maternal and Child Welfare (KIA) which will be followed up with Decision Making to become the Proposed Bill of the DPR RI.

"For this purpose, can the opinions of the factions be submitted to the front through their respective spokespersons?" asked Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. "Agreed," answered the members of the DPR who were present in unison. Then, the spokespersons for the factions submitted their views in writing to the Speaker of the DPR, Puan Maharani.

"The six factions' opinions on the draft law (RUU) proposed by members of the Indonesian House of Representatives regarding Maternal and Child Welfare were followed up by making a decision to become the Draft Law proposed by the Indonesian House of Representatives. Can the meeting agenda be approved?," said Dasco. Speaker of the DPR, Puan Maharani, said that the MCH Bill would serve as a guideline for the state to ensure that the children of the nation's next generation have good growth and development in order to become superior human resources (HR).

In addition to 6 months leave, the MCH Bill also regulates the provision of daycare facilities in public facilities and workplaces. The MCH Bill is also one of the efforts to overcome the stunting problem in Indonesia.
