MEDAN - The Criminal Investigation Unit Team of the Medan Baru Police has arrested the perpetrators of violent thefts who are on the wanted list (DPO) aka fugitives.

The perpetrator, Iksan Kurnia (27), a resident of Medan Polonia, was arrested on Monday, June 27 at a wine stall on Jalan Antariksa, Sari Rejo.

"The perpetrator was successfully arrested due to information from the public that the perpetrator was holding a machete and threatened the public using the machete held by the perpetrator," said Medan Baru Police Chief Kompol Ginanjar Fitriadi as quoted from a written statement, Thursday, June 30.

Based on this information, the police team went to the location and arrested the perpetrator at the tuak shop. At that time, the perpetrator was holding a sharp machete.

"The perpetrator was given firm and measured action against his two legs because the perpetrator tried to fight the officers by pushing and trying to seize the officer's rifle during development to look for evidence of the motorbike stolen by the perpetrator," said the police chief.

Kompol Ginanjar said the perpetrator Iksan Kurnia was a DPO for the theft of violence (curas) on May 7, 2022.

"The perpetrator Iksan Kurnia and his colleague with the initials WS, who had been arrested first, took the Honda Beat BK 2274 AJP motorcycle belonging to the victim Initial Z (22) by threatening the victim with a machete," he explained.

From the perpetrators, officers secured evidence of a machete.

"The perpetrator is suspected of Article 365 paragraph (2) to 1e, 2e of the Criminal Code with a threat of 12 years in prison," he concluded.
