Access To Population Data For KPU Officially Opened Dukcapil Ministry Of Home Affairs

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Ditjen Dukcapil Kemendagri) has officially opened access to population data for the General Election Commission (KPU).

The opening of access to the Population Identification Number (NIK) was marked by the signing of a cooperation agreement by the Director General of Dukcapil of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, together with KPU Secretary General Bernad Dermawan Sutrisno, as well as the handover of NIK access rights at the KPU Office, Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Wednesday 29 June.

KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari said that the opening of access to NIK is for updating the voter list and compiling voter lists for the 2024 Simultaneous Election, so that the commitment to share data is very important.

Hasyim explained to the media crew, "There are some data that will gradually be exchanged between the KPU and the Ministry of Home Affairs, in this case the Director General of Dukcapil. For example, there will be a submission of aggregate population data at the sub-district level, the plan will be in early July to serve as the basis for the KPU, for example. constituting constituencies."

The data, continued Hasyim, will also serve as a reference for political parties regarding the requirement to have members of at least one thousandth of the total population in the management of political parties at the district/city level.

In addition, these data serve as the basis for Indonesian citizens who will nominate themselves as individual candidates to participate in the 2024 Regional Representative Council Election.

Hasyim expressed his hope that sharing population data with each other can make voter data more valid so that every citizen who has the right to vote is registered before using it.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Dukcapil of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Zudan Arif Fakrulloh, confirmed that his party would share population data with the KPU twice a year.

"We will provide the data for the first semester in mid-July, the first semester every June 30 and the second semester every December 30, so we share the pattern using the data," said Zudan.

Zudan also ensures that his party maintains the confidentiality of residents' personal data, along with their integrity and accuracy.

He continued, the data that had been shared by his party could not be changed, except at the request of the data subject or data owner due to moving, marriage, becoming TNI/Polri so that they were removed from the voter list, or retired from the TNI/Polri so that they were included in the voter list.

"Hopefully with this effort, in 2024 our voter data will be more accurate based on population data which is updated every day," he said.
