WN Asks DPRA To Fight For Helsinki MoU To Central Government

JAKARTA - Wali Nanggroe (WN) Malik Mahmud Al-Haytar asked the Aceh DPR to fight for the realization of a joint agreement or memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Helsinki in order to maintain a very good peace.

"Regarding the points of the Helsinki MoU, I hope the DPRA will really fight for them. Don't just wait, ”said Malik Mahmud in Meulaboh as quoted from Antara, Sunday, November 1.

According to him, the overall realization related to the points of the peace agreement that was agreed upon by the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and signed on August 15, 2005 in Helsinki, Finland, must be realized immediately.

Malik Mahmud also emphasized that one of the points of the Helsinki MoU that the central government has not yet fulfilled is related to the Aceh symbol and flag.

For this reason, he asked for the role of the DPRA to be more active in communicating and lobbying the central government in Jakarta, so that all the points of the Aceh peace agreement can be immediately resolved.

"If the DPRA has legality, it has the right to fight for it. We hope that we don't just wait, ”added Malik Mahmud.

As a figure who participated in the Helsinki MoU negotiations, Malik Mahmud Al-Haytar has a moral responsibility to all Acehnese people, including internationally.

For this reason, he hopes that the agreement can be fought for by the DPRA in truth, so that Aceh's rights that have been agreed upon and set forth in the peace agreement can be realized immediately, and Aceh's rights can return to normal.

"This agreement is a peace agreement, we hope that Aceh's rights under the Helsinki MoU can return, that's all," said Malik Mahmud.
