Meet Chancellor Olaf Scholz, President Jokowi Hopes Germany Becomes A Processing Partner Of Potential 474 Giga Watt New And Renewable Energy Sources

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Elmau, Germany, Monday.

In this meeting, apart from building the G20 Presidency for Indonesia, the two leaders also discussed strengthening economic cooperation, including in the new and renewable energy sector.

In the new and renewable energy sector, the President hopes that Germany can become a partner in processing the potential of 474 Giga Watt of new and renewable energy sources in Indonesia. Furthermore, President Jokowi also appreciated the appreciation of Germany's Green Infrastructure Initiative with a funding commitment of 2.5 billion euros for 5 years.

"As the largest economies in Europe and Southeast Asia, the opportunities for economic cooperation between Indonesia and Germany are huge. In the new and renewable energy sector, and in the high-tech industry sector," President Jokowi said, citing the website of the President of the Republic of Indonesia on June 28.

Regarding the high-tech industrial sector, President Jokowi said that Indonesia had prepared an electric vehicle ecosystem from upstream to downstream, from mining and nickel smelting to the production of batteries and electric cars.

President Jokowi sees the potential for cooperation in the development of the semiconductor industry and making this industry part of the global chip supply chain.

"Indonesia is also ready to follow up the cooperation in the development of the German Industrial Quarter which will later become a production base and global supply chain," said President Jokowi.

It is known that President Jokowi at the same time expressed his appreciation for Germany's support for the Indonesian Presidency at the G20. In the midst of a very complex and difficult world situation, he hopes that Indonesia and Germany will continue to maintain the G20 so that it can remain a catalyst for economic recovery.
