JAKARTA - The survey institute Indonesia Polling Stations (IPS) released the results of a simulation survey of two names of presidential candidates (candidates) if the Presidential Election (Pilpres) was held today.

As a result, the name of Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto gets the highest vote if he competes against Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo or DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

In the results of this IPS survey, when Prabowo Subianto went head to head with Ganjar Pranowo, without the name of the vice-presidential candidate (Cawapres) it showed that the General Chair of Gerindra won by getting 62.1 percent of the vote.

"The majority of the public (62.1 percent) will vote for Prabowo Subianto, while only 34.4 percent of Ganjar Pranowo, the remaining 3.5 percent answered they don't know", said IPS researcher Alfin Sugianto in a virtual survey presentation, Monday, 27 June.

Meanwhile, when dealing with Anies Baswedan, continued Alfin, Prabowo is still far ahead. As many as 61.5 percent will vote for Prabowo Subianto, while Anies Baswedan will only choose 35.8 percent of the vote.

"The remaining 2.7 percent said they didn't know", said Alfin.

In another simulation result, if the presidential election was held with only two candidates namely Ganjar Pranowo and Anies Baswedan, then 44 percent would vote for Ganjar Pranowo. Meanwhile, Anies Baswedan was 42 percent, and the remaining 14 percent said they didn't know.

However, if there is a presidential election with three presidential candidates, the largest share of around 46.6 percent will vote for Prabowo Subianto, followed by Ganjar Pranowo with 28.2 percent and Anies Baswedan with 25.2 percent.

The IPS survey was conducted on 13-23 June 2022 in 34 provinces throughout Indonesia with 1,220 respondents.

Data were collected using face-to-face interviews with multi-stage random sampling. The margin of error is +/- 2.8 percent and 95 percent confidence level.
