Inviting PDIP To Formulate Anti-Corruption System, KPK: Integrity Of Political Parties Must Be Built

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) invites the PDI-P (PDIP) and other parties in the country to formulate an anti-corruption prevention system. Moreover, the founders of the nation wanted Indonesia to be free from presumptuous practices.

This was conveyed by Firli when giving a speech at the Smart Politics with Integrity event at the ACLC KPK Building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta. The event was attended by PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and other party officials, such as PDIP DPP chairman Djarot Saiful Hidayat.

"KPK invites all party cadres, together with the Corruption Eradication Commission, to formulate a system that does not open gaps in corruption. Therefore, the integrity of political parties must be built. We must maintain and build a system so that corruption does not occur," said Firli in his remarks, Monday, June 27.

On that occasion, Firli revealed that his institution had three main strategies to prevent corruption. The first is through education.

"Because only with education can we build an anti-corruption culture and civilization. We must improve our integrity. With that, we invite the nation's children to create a corruption-free Indonesia," he said.

The second step is prevention through system improvement. The third is through prosecution.

"Action must be taken so that people are afraid of committing corruption," said Firli.

Furthermore, Firli also touched on high-cost politics. He hopes that the things that open the gap for corruption can be prevented.

Moreover, political parties have a strategic role in eradicating corruption. Because the party is directly related to the people; which produces people's representatives; which produces leaders from villages to presidents; and make rules through their representatives in the DPR.

"We hope that all party cadres carry out their politics without high costs," he said.

"Indeed, your work is really awaited by all Indonesian people. 277 millions of Indonesian children are waiting for the work of all mothers and fathers. Let's work for the nation, serve the country, free the Indonesian nation from corrupt practices," added Firli.

Meanwhile, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that his party really appreciates the KPK's steps to promote anti-corruption activities. Hasto said PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri had always emphasized the importance of anti-corruption and threatened to fire cadres who violated these rules.

"We appreciate the strategy to eradicate corruption through education, prevention and prosecution by the KPK," concluded Hasto.
