JAKARTA - A total of 12 electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE) cameras in DKI Jakarta were damaged by rioters during a demonstration against the Omnibus Law Cipta Kerja a few days ago.

"There are 12 E-TLE cameras damaged," Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Sambodo Purnomo Yogo at Cikunir 2 Toll Gate, Bekasi, West Java, reported by Antara, Friday, October 30.

Sambodo said, all the electronic ticketing cameras are currently under repair. The repair process will be completed in the near future.

"We are still in the process of repairing, maybe in the near future it will be finished," he said

He explained that the cameras that were damaged were mostly from Jalan MH Thamrin to Jalan Jenderal Sudirman. The types of damage also vary.

"Some are damaged panels. Some are pushed so that their position (changes). Some have broken wires and so on," said Sambodo.

The perpetrators of the destruction are thought to be rioters and provocateurs who infiltrated the demonstration, which initially ran peacefully but ended in chaos as a result of the intruders' actions.

A number of suspected perpetrators of the vandalism have now been arrested by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of Polda Metro Jaya and investigations are still being carried out to find other perpetrators.

"(The perpetrator) is still under investigation and several have been arrested yesterday and were exposed to Crime. Still part of it," he said.
