WEST LOMBOK - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno invites the community to raise the advantages of their respective regions to support the development of tourist villages.

"The public must be really aware of tourism and this awareness will be part of the strength of the tourism ecosystem and the creative economy," said Sandiaga as quoted from Antara, Sunday, June 26.

The activity, entitled Tourism Awareness Socialization, was also carried out in four other villages, namely Pusuk Lestari Village in West Lombok Regency, Gili Indah Village, Medana Village, and Jerowaru Village in North Lombok Regency.

The socialization was followed by community groups and tourism actors aimed at increasing the capacity of human resources in services in tourist villages.

In addition to understanding the existing potential, he said, the public must understand the important values contained in Sapta Pesona, namely security, order, cleanliness, coolness, beauty, friendliness, and memories.

The actualization of Sapta Pesona values is part of daily behavior in serving tourists so that it supports the growth of the tourism climate and animates the value of local cultural wisdom.

A conscious understanding of tourism is expected to be able to build the mindset of the community so that they become active actors in tourism development in their area.

"Cleanliness and hospitality are two very important things (to maintain)," he said.

Sandiaga hopes that the “Travel Awareness Socialization” will be concrete evidence of the government's presence in an effort to improve the community's economy, the momentum for opening job opportunities as wide as possible, and raising public awareness of the tourism potential in the region.

Moreover, there are a number of major events held in West Nusa Tenggara such as the Mandalika MotoGP, Pesona Senggigi, and the Samota Motor Cross Grand Prix (MXGP), Sumbawa.

"Residents here must be really aware of tourism, must really be part of the strength of the tourism ecosystem and creative economy. Later, investors will come automatically to build homestays with residents, build creative economy products and automatically tourist visits will increased," said Sandiaga.
