PMK Green Zone East Kalimantan, Replacement Of Rp 10 Million Cows Per Head Is Not A Priority

SAMARINDA - Head of the Livestock and Animal Health Service of East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Munawar emphasized that the replacement assistance for cattle of Rp. 10 million per head due to the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak is not a priority, considering that East Kalimantan is still free of FMD with the status of a green zone.

"Reimbursement of Rp 10 million per head of cattle is a national policy, while there is no regional policy. Moreover, East Kalimantan, Alhamdulillah, has not been affected by the FMD outbreak," explained Munawar in Samarinda, Saturday, June 25.

Munawar explained, there are at least 18 provinces affected by the FMD outbreak throughout Indonesia.

"According to the Minister of Economy, Minister of Religion and PMPB as the PMK Disease Task Force, the information is that there are 29,000 doses that have arrived and it seems that it is for areas affected by the outbreak first," he explained.

The cow replacement assistance is a national policy. Meanwhile, in the regions only increase the budget related to the financing of the plan to support the selection of the vitamin and drug budget.

"Actually, there is no vaccine yet and we put more emphasis on bio security in the farmer's area," he said.

The Head of Department said that the distribution of vitamins that had been carried out so far was indeed a livestock vaccine to strengthen against virus attacks, not for PMK.

In addition, the Livestock and Health Office of East Kalimantan has also carried out communication, information and education for breeders.

"Alhamdulillah, it is with the communication, information, education that they maintain and so far no one has been attacked by PMK," he said.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the DPR, Dedi Mulyadi, assessed that the government's policy of compensating for cattle destroyed due to FMD was appropriate.

"The Coordinating Ministry's steps in handling PMK are correct. I appreciate the speed of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy in dealing with the PMK outbreak," said Dedi Mulyadi.

He conveyed, there are two things that need to be appreciated regarding the current handling of PMK. Among them are the provision of compensation of Rp. 10 million and the provision of 28 million vaccines for handling FMD.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto previously announced that the government's policy in handling PMK was to compensate Rp10 million for cattle destroyed due to PMK. Compensation is given especially for small scale cattle breeders.
