Ministry Of Social Affairs: Disaster Prepared Village Becomes A Social Investment

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has launched a Disaster Preparedness Village (KSB), as directed by the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, this is a form of social investment.

This time, the Seulawah Valley KSB in the PP Saree Vocational School Field, Jantho City, Aceh Besar District, Aceh, was inaugurated by the Ministry of Social Affairs.

"With the existence of KSB, it is hoped that the community will be able to handle disasters quickly and independently to prevent and reduce the wider impact, especially for the people of the Seulawah Valley," said Acting Director of Social Protection for Natural Disasters Iyan Kusmadiana in a written statement quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 24. .

The Ministry of Social Affairs also provided assistance in the amount of Rp. 138,118,950 which was used to strengthen the social granary of KSB Lembah Seulawah.

"This assistance is provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs for the KSB social barn. So when a disaster or emergency occurs, ladies and gentlemen, you can take advantage of the logistics available at KSB Lembah Seulawah, without having to wait for help from the Center to arrive," said Iyan.

This, he said, is our effort in accelerating disaster management as one of the keys to reducing the impact of disasters.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Aceh Besar Mawardi Ali, who supported this activity from the start, was also present on the occasion to appreciate the establishment of KSB in Lembah Seulawah District.

"So, the establishment of KSB by the Ministry of Social Affairs is the right step for the Aceh Besar District Government in disaster management, considering that Aceh Besar is one of the areas prone to disasters," he said.

Mawardi hopes that the KSB volunteers who have been inaugurated can provide the knowledge gained to other communities and can be a role model for other sub-districts in the Aceh Besar district.

"This must be followed by every sub-district in the Aceh Besar Regency area even without financial assistance from the Government. Because this program is actually community-based, from us and for us together," he said.
