Like President Jokowi's Target, Kaltara Also Wants To Be Free Of Black Spots

TANJUNG SELOR - The government is still trying to solve the blank spot problem in this country, not least in North Kalimantan (Kaltara). According to the target of Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), by 2023 Indonesia will be free of blank spots.

As a concrete effort and step taken by the government and the private sector to overcome the blank spot problem in Kaltara, this year 262 Base Transceiver Station (BTS) sites will be established in 3T areas (underdeveloped, leading and outermost) and non 3T areas.

Head of the Kaltara Communication, Information, Statistics and Encryption Service (DKISP), Ilham Zain is optimistic that the year 2023 will be free of blank spots. However, for what kind of realization, it can only be seen after entering the targeted time. "For this year, the 262 BTS sites consist of 150 sites in the 3T area and 112 sites in the non 3T area," Ilham said some time ago.

As for the active BTS towers in Kaltara, there are 460 sites, with a distribution of 187 sites in the 3T area and the remaining 273 sites in the non 3T area.

He explained that the construction of BTS in the 3T area was carried out by the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI). Meanwhile, in non 3T areas, it was built by the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) as well as from providers. "But for the 112 sites that will be built in non-3T areas this year, all of them are included in the planning of the Ministry of Communication and Information," he said.

Currently, he continued, the plan to build 262 BTS sites this year is still in progress. Surely this will be built this year because the vendors already exist. If it is not built, then the vendor will be penalized by BAKTI. "If all of this has been completed, then the coverage of BTS construction in Kaltara is already around 80 percent. So there are only a few left, so we will continue to pursue it," he said.

Of course, this telecommunications network service is a need for the community equally, especially in today's digitalization era. This is what makes his party will continue to strive optimally to fight for Kaltara to be free of blank spots as soon as possible, like President Jokowi's program for all of Indonesia.
