South Kalimantan PWNU Values Odd Process Of PBNU Mardani Maming Bendum Case At KPK

JAKARTA - The South Kalimantan Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Management (PWNU South Kalimantan) considered the KPK's determination of the suspect to be former Tanah Bumbu Regent Mardani H Mamin to be odd.

The General Treasurer (Bendum) of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board is suspected of being involved in the investigation of alleged bribery and mining permit gratification in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan (Kalsel).

"There are many irregularities, seen from the very fast process at the KPK, while the legal process related to him (Mardani Maming) at the Banjarmasin Corruption Court has not yet been concluded," said PWNU South Kalimantan Secretary Berry Nahdian Forqan in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 22.

However, Berry emphasized that his party currently has the same attitude as PBNU towards the Mardani Maming case, namely providing legal assistance and moral support to Mardani.

Berry explained that the South Kalimantan PWNU has an obligation to straighten and protect its citizens, especially since Mardani is one of the administrators and leaders of PBNU.

He emphasized that one of the functions of the organization is to protect its members or citizens, unless it has been declared and proven guilty.

"We take this position with the belief that there is an attempt to criminalize Mardani H Maming, besides that there has also been no clear legal status determination," he added.

Regarding the statement of the Deputy Chairperson of the South Kalimantan PWNU 1 Nasrullah AR, Berry said that the statement did not represent the South Kalimantan PWNU institution.

"The statement made by Nasrullah AR is a personal statement, does not represent the South Kalimantan PWNU institutionally," said Berry again.

As previously reported, launching Antara, Nasrullah AR said that his party was concerned about the case that befell Mardani, but he hoped that the case would not drag the institution into personal matters.

"We are concerned about the case that befell the General Treasurer, but I hope and emphasize that the institution is not drawn into personal matters," he said.

On the other hand, the KPK stated that it had sufficient evidence in handling the case allegedly involving Mardani H Maming. The statement was the KPK's response to Mardani who felt he was being criminalized.

"In every case handling, the KPK certainly works based on the adequacy of evidence in accordance with applicable laws, procedures and legislation," said Acting KPK Spokesperson Ali Fikri, in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 21.

The KPK also ensures that it adheres to the principle that enforcing the law must not be done by violating the law. Thus, he also hopes for certain parties not to express opinions without a justifiable argumentation basis and it will be counterproductive in law enforcement of corruption.

Previously, Mardani felt that he was criminalized after being rumored to be a suspect and had also been prevented from going abroad.

"This country must not lose to the legal mafia. Young people must unite against all of this. Today it is my turn to be criminalized, what will come will be your turn," said Mardani.
