Demo Rejects Work Creation Law Today, 20 Thousand Personnel Deployed

JAKARTA - As many as 20 thousand joint personnel of the TNI-Polri and Regional Government (Pemda) were deployed to secure demonstrations against the Job Creation Law in the area of the state palace and its surroundings.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said, 12,369 joint personnel had been deployed to the field. Apart from the State Palace, this action was also carried out at the DPR Building and the Proclamation Monument.

"The security of around 12,369 joint personnel is to secure 3 locations and flow diversion points and economic centers of malls which are considered important for security," Yusri told reporters, Wednesday, October 28.

Meanwhile, the remaining 8,000 new personnel will be deployed if deemed necessary. Or if there are signs that the action ends in chaos.

"We have 8000 reserves that we put at Monas and the DPR-RI," said Yusri. Apart from the security scheme, Yusri appealed to the protesters to obey the regulations. Moreover, currently DKI Jakarta is still in the red zone for the spread of COVID-19.

"Please protect his friends (the protesters) so that no provocateurs will enter there (the masses)," he said.

The action against the Job Creation Act today will be carried out by the All Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM SI). They continue to demand that President Joko Widodo issue a Perppu to cancel this law.

The action will be held at 13.00 WIB with thousands of people participating. Some students also come from outside DKI Jakarta Province.
